The round hole is too small. Btw, Bosch hose i a joke.
Airflow more then tripled. Don't even think about that.I made a new adapter for my 2" Ridgid hose, which goes from the outside of the oval hole, not from inside.
I was just scratching my head, why this small plastic part did not come with sander. More, round hole is very non-standard, so you will need adapter for this adapter, if you have any standard american hose.
I would not recommend this to anybody with enough skills to make a better adapter. It cost almost 1/5 of the sander with S&H.
It reduces airflow to about 1/3 of the original oval hole.
The extension hose will stay put as long as I don't pull too hard on it (like when there is no more slack in the hose and I still keep on pulling). When I need to put it, I simply plug in the Bosch extension hose from the shop vaccum into it. I recommend it for using it with Bosch products that are compatible with it. This adapter works fine with my Bosch 6" random orbital sander. I pretty much leave it permanently attached to the sander.
The nice part is I can even use it with my portabe dewalt shop vac when I am at customers houses doing work so I don't have to bring my large shop vac. Perfect fit for my Orbital Sander. I use it all the time now when I sand to help cut down the dust that normally goes everywhere.
It works as advertised. As a matter of fact, I have to use settings 4-6 on the sander. The suction is so strong, it sucks the sander down to the workpiece and slows the sander down a bit. I bought this for use with my reconditioned Bosch random orbit sander, the 2-handed one for about $100. Do lubricate the O-ring with a little oil from the side of your nose, and it isn't such a tight fit. Without this, even with a high grade paper filter bag, the dust escapes from the side of the sanding disc. It works like magic. With this, NO dust escapes from my shop vac.
Work fine, and it wasn't too expensive. I wish it came with the adapter in the first place. Dewalt had their built in, I hope Bosch changes theirs soon.
